What is Smelting

Is a technique to obtain steel and cast iron from a mineral (With an iron oxide base) that is melted (1400-1450 ° C) and is placed in contact with so-called reducing agents (e.g. coal, bio-carbon, hydrogen etc.) which are able to progressively separate iron from oxygen to obtain the iron-based metal alloy.

 

In the steel sector, the main issue to be addressed is the need to drastically reduce CO2 emissions. The question takes on profiles both linked to the environment and the economy. To date, the solutions designed to solve production and environmental problems are based on two processes:

 

  • Production through a pre-reducer, a system that is not at all innovative and very expensive.

 

  • Use of hydrogen as an energy source for the development of the process. Both economically and environmentally speaking, unsustainable.

Our technology 

  • Reduces from 80-90% the costs of realisation of implants. 

  • The cost of production is reduced by a third to 50%.

  • Powered by biocarbon, biogas and renewable electricity, the system eliminates completely CO2 emissions.

  • The cast iron or the iron sponge produced with biocarbon, is not enriched with S (sulfur), because it enters the metal through carbon coke, which is not used in the smelting process. A mandatory production step is eliminated to remove sulfur (S) with a further saving in cost.

  • A system of certifications both for production and for the reduction of emissions posted on blockchain is created, all preparatory to the development of a Fintech project of carbon credit transactions, equally on blockchain.

  • Economic advantage linked to the production of steel, as it no longer has the costs linked to emissions.

  • Through the development of the biocarbon production chain, made economically viable by the I-Smelt technology, tens of thousands of jobs are created.

Our Mission

We use the resources of biological systems as reducing materials. 



In our process we obtain the reducing agent from plant resources, that are the same ones that will destroy the CO2 produced.

 

Our technology is a technical, economical and cultural revolution, since all the processes that have been trying to protect the environment for years, need contributions (PNRR). Our project works exactly in the opposite way, because all the decarbonisation processes that follow the ecological transition, become sustainable and economically independent by obtaining a revenue for the disposal of organic residue.



Our goal isn't to solve an environmental issue by consuming more energy, but by using the resources we have, such as regenerating plants, from which bio-carbon (a fundamental element of our process) comes from.
